Tā Moko

This half hour documentary explores the art of Tā Moko (traditional Maori tattoo). The art form has journeyed a life-cycle, beginning as an adornment of pride and moving and evolving through to outlawed savage markings, insignia of gangs and reclamation of Maori identity.

Today its seen as an adornment of pride and identity for both Maori and non-Maori.

Ta Moko documentary has been placed as a finalist in the 2007 Media Peace Awards in New Zealand. The documentary was directed by Kim Webby, and the Executive Producer was Claudette Hauiti for Front of the Box Productions Ltd.
